KEEP Liberia Launches Emerging Leaders Mentorship Fellowship for Youth | News

The Kids’ Educational Engagement Project (KEEP Liberia) has announced the launch of its newest initiative, the Emerging Leaders Mentorship Fellowship Program, aimed at empowering young Liberians with leadership skills and civic awareness. The two-year fellowship, set to begin in March 2025, will initially enroll 25 to 30 students aged 10 to 19 from both public and private schools across Montserrado County. In its second year, the program is expected to expand to include participants from other parts of the country.

The fellowship’s first year will focus on building participants’ skills and knowledge in critical areas such as communication and public speaking, networking, digital literacy, goal setting, and community engagement. Additional topics will include entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and civic education—essential skills that will prepare the fellows to become active contributors to their communities.

Participants will also benefit from hands-on experiences, including exposure visits to historical and landmark sites across Liberia, internship opportunities with KEEP Liberia and partner organizations, and participation in a collaborative community project. At the end of the program, fellows will receive a certificate of completion and have the opportunity to network with like-minded peers.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be between the ages of 10 and 19, enrolled in grades 4 through 11, and maintain at least a “B” grade average (83%) in their most recent school assessment. They must also reside in Montserrado County and demonstrate strong leadership potential, along with a keen interest in community development, social responsibility, and civic duties. Participants must be available for fellowship sessions held twice a month on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Interested students or their parents can apply by sending an expression of interest to keepliberia@gmail.com, along with a copy of the student’s latest grade sheet. The deadline for applications is March 12, 2025.

With this new mentorship initiative, KEEP Liberia aims to nurture the next generation of leaders who will drive positive change within their communities and beyond.
