The latest arson attack occurred on Sunday night, causing significant damage to the company’s rubber trees and raising serious economic concerns for both the business and the surrounding community.

According to reports, the fire was quickly contained by SRC’s fire service team and local community members. However, eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots as the attackers set fires in various sections of the plantation.

SRC management expressed alarm over the recurring nature of the attacks. While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, preliminary reports indicate that a considerable number of rubber trees and facilities have been affected.

“This is becoming an alarming pattern. The repeated attacks on our properties are not only hurting our business but also threatening the livelihood of many in the community,” said SRC management in a statement. “We urge the local communities to work with us in curbing these rising attacks and strengthening security.”

This attack follows two similar incidents in recent weeks, prompting suspicions of deliberate sabotage. As one of the largest rubber plantations in the region, SRC plays a vital role in the local economy, providing employment to over 900 people and contributing millions of dollars annually. Continued destruction of the plantation could lead to job losses and broader economic challenges.

The latest arson attack occurred on Sunday night, causing significant damage to the company’s rubber trees and raising serious economic concerns for both the business and the surrounding community.

Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made, and the perpetrators remain unidentified. SRC management has called on local authorities to assist in the investigation and ensure justice is served.

In the meantime, the company is urging local residents and community leaders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further destruction.

“With each attack compounding the financial strain on the company, industry observers warn that if this situation persists, it could have long-term repercussions on the company’s operations,” the statement from SRC management added.

The company plans to engage with local communities in the coming days to address security concerns and discuss preventive measures.
