New Academic Deal Sealed Between Sharda University And University Of Liberia

INDIA – The Monday’s signing ceremony of a partnership and collaboration academic agreement for a joint book  publication:  Bridging Continental: India-Liberia Governance and Partnership Development was sealed between Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University and  the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Liberia.

The book project involves six Professors, Authors and Researchers from the two sisterly universities in India and Liberia. The team from the University of Liberia comprises of: Prof.Dr. Gray, Dean, Sawyer College; Assistant.Prof. Richmond S. Anderson, Chairman, Department of Political Science and Assistant Professor, Dr. Ambrues Nebo.

While the team from Sharda University includes: Prof. Dr. Anviti Gupta, Dean, Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assistant Professor, Dr. Rukmani Joshi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Arvind Shukla, respectively.

The two counterparts, Dr. Gupta, and Dr. Gray, on Monday affixed their official signatures to the academic partnership which benefits faculty members, staffs and students of both institutions.

The Signing ceremony took placed on June 30, 2025 on the 8th Floor, Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University in Knowledge Park III, Greater Norda, India, and was attended by UL scholars (faculty members) who recently graduated with advanced degrees in various disciplines from Sharda University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Gray conveyed special greetings from the President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan to her counterpart, Dr. Ashok Daryani and the illustrious faculty members of Sharda University. He praised Dr. Gupta and the distinguished faculty members  of Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University for the mutual partnership and collaboration sustaining between the two sisterly universities.

Dr. Gray further expressed appreciation to the administration of Sharda University for the provision of quality education which continues to impact Liberians attending the institution and for providing him the opportunity to serve as  visiting professor and adjunt faculty in the Departmentof Political Science, Sharda University. He thanked Sharda University  for extending similar opportunity to UL faculty to serve as gisiting professors at the institution.

Regarding the book project, Dr. Gray applauded the authors and professors for collaborating to  undertake such a unique academic work which stands to widen Knowledge and expand India-Liberia’s relationship.

Also speaking, Dr. Gupta expressed appreciation to the Minister of Education of Liberia, the President and administration of UL for the unique relationship between the two institutions. She also lauded the joint book project which add more values to the UL-Sharda Universities partnership.

UL and Sharda University entered into MoU in 2022, while up to present seven (7) UL faculty and staff have earned advanced degrees in various disciplines from Sharda University. About 140 Liberian students are currently attending the university. So far, up to 60 Liberians have graduated from Sharda University; with Sharda having the highest number of foreign students amongst universities and colleges in India from across ninety seven countries globally.
