– Dr. Dahn, an eminent son of Nimba, urges county leaders to prioritize the people’s welfare

As Nimba County prepares for the April 22, 2025, senatorial by-election, Dr. Kadiker Rex Dahn, a distinguished son of the county, is urging Nimbaians to rise above complacency and prioritize the welfare of the people by electing a leader committed to genuine service.

Dr. Dahn, a former Deputy Minister of Education and Deputy Director General at the Commission on Higher Education, has called on the people of Nimba to reject self-serving politicians and focus on leaders who deliver tangible results for the community.

His impassioned plea comes following the passing of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, whose political legacy shaped the county’s leadership for decades.

“For too long, politicians have come to us with sweet campaign messages, only to turn their backs once they’re elected. The people of Nimba deserve better,” Dr. Dahn asserted. “The time for complacency is over. We must demand leaders who prioritize the people’s welfare and are committed to addressing the real challenges faced by ordinary Nimbaians.”

With the upcoming by-election expected to attract several high-profile contenders, Dr. Dahn is calling on Nimbaians to embrace a new era of leadership rooted in honesty, humility, passion, and selflessness.

“It’s time for a leader who is free from corruption—someone driven not by personal gain, but by a genuine desire to uplift the lives of the people,” Dr. Dahn declared.

He emphasized that Nimba’s development has been stifled by a recurring cycle of unfulfilled promises and political opportunism, and it is now crucial for voters to break this cycle by choosing a leader dedicated to public service.

“We cannot afford to elect leaders who will abandon the people once they hold power. Nimba needs leaders who remain committed to serving the people’s needs throughout their tenure,” he added.

Dr. Dahn believes that unity is central to ensuring progress and stability in Nimba County. He stressed that the death of Senator Prince Y. Johnson offers a unique opportunity for Nimbaians to come together and shape a future where collective interests take precedence over individual ambitions.

“Our county has long been defined by its unity and strength. We must honor the oneness entrusted to us by our forefathers,” Dr. Dahn said. “This is a defining moment for Nimba. We cannot allow divisive politics to tear us apart.”

He urged Nimba’s elders to play a pivotal role in guiding the political process, ensuring it remains peaceful, fair, and transparent.

“The wisdom of our elders is crucial in ensuring that this transition of leadership is handled with dignity and care. We need their voices to uphold peace and ensure that the election reflects the true will of the people,” he insisted.

A passionate advocate for education, Dr. Dahn underscored the need for the next senator of Nimba to prioritize educational opportunities for all youth.

“Education is the key to Nimba’s future, and it must be accessible to every son and daughter, regardless of their ethnic background,” he said. “The next senator must work tirelessly to ensure that our children receive a quality education that prepares them to lead and thrive.”

Dr. Dahn argued that educational inequality continues to hold many young people back, and any leader vying for the senatorial seat must be committed to expanding access to education.

“The youth of Nimba must not be held back by selective access to quality learning—every child deserves the tools they need to succeed,” he stressed.

Dr. Dahn also warned against electing leaders motivated by personal and political interests, urging voters to hold candidates accountable for their track records and promises.

“We need leaders who will stand with the people—not politicians who disappear after they win,” he said. “The people of Nimba can no longer afford to be deceived by empty rhetoric. It’s time to demand action, transparency, and accountability.”

He called on elected and appointed officials to prioritize people-centered governance, arguing that Nimba’s progress depends on leadership that places community welfare above self-enrichment.

“It is the responsibility of every Nimbaian to work together, maintain peace, and preserve the integrity of our community,” he added. “We must choose leaders who are willing to make the hard decisions that will uplift all citizens—now and for generations to come.”

Dr. Dahn’s call for unity, integrity, and accountability come at a critical time as Nimba faces a political crossroads. Given the absence of Senator Prince Y. Johnson’s towering influence, the upcoming by-election presents an opportunity for new leadership to emerge and redefine the county’s future.

“We have waited long enough for a leader who genuinely serves the people with integrity and compassion,” Dr. Dahn remarked. “The future of Nimba depends on electing a leader who is not afraid to make bold choices—someone who will put the people’s needs first and ensure lasting development for all.”
