Standardizing Electricity Contracting Regime -M&E, LERC to Interview Contractors for Licensing

MONROVIA – The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC), will shortly begin interview and validation exercises towards certificating and licensing Electrical Professionals and Contractors across the Country.

According to a release, the policy move is a key part of measures aimed at identifying competent practitioners who should provide industrial and home electrical services to customers in the country – something that is in line with precautionary measures to prevent poor service delivery by Electricians, which far-reaching consequences include incidents of fire outbreaks.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy will chair the interview panel which work is expected to begin in earnest.

The Deputy Minister for Energy, Charles Umehai, will handle the Ministry’s role, along with authorities of the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission, and other sector members who have all been certificated to play leadership roles on the panel.
