Jeety Rubber and SRC Donate Food, Cash to Mosques in Margibi and Bong for Ramadan

Jeety Rubber and its subsidiary, Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC), have distributed food supplies and cash to mosques in Margibi and Bong Counties as part of their annual Ramadan outreach to Muslim communities.

The donations, made on March 18, included rice, vegetable oil, noodles, canned sardines, and cash contributions ranging from LD 20,000 to LD 50,000 per mosque. In Margibi County, fifteen mosques benefited, including Mandingo Quarter, Lango Town, Vai Town, Madina, Konola, Weala, Barclay Farm, Borlola, Mowea Town, Wowawa Town, Perkins Town, Yarnwullie Town, Dawoo Town, Peter Town, and Wohm mosques. In Bong County, beneficiaries included Tumutu Mosque, Kpakoloquiata Mosque, and Coneh’s Farm Mosque.

In a statement, business tycoon Upjit Singh Sachdeva, popularly known as Mr. Jeety, said the initiative reflects the companies’ long-standing commitment to Muslim communities. He described Ramadan as a period of reflection, compassion, and giving, noting that supporting workers and neighboring communities during the holy month is part of the companies’ responsibility as community members.

Mr. Jeety added that outreach has expanded over the years, strengthening the bond between the companies and residents of Margibi and Bong Counties.

Imams of the beneficiary mosques expressed gratitude for the continued support, noting that the food items would be used for Iftar, helping reduce financial pressure on families during Ramadan.

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and charity, is expected to end on Friday, March 20, with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. In Liberia, donations from businesses and individuals are a common feature of the season.

Jeety Rubber and SRC, major operators in Liberia’s rubber sector, have maintained a long-standing presence in Margibi and Bong Counties. Their community investments include borehole water projects in Weala serving over 6,000 people, expansion of a 50-bed clinic, a $10,000 annual district scholarship fund, a daily feeding program, donation of an ambulance, eye-care outreach initiatives, sponsorship of advanced medical treatments, and support for the Margibi County sports team.
