Sinoe County July 9 And Homecoming Steering Committee Unveils Calendar Of Events

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The National Steering Committee (NSC) of the Sinoe County July 9 and Homecoming Celebration 2026 is pleased to announce the official calendar of activities for this year’s commemoration of the founding of Sinoe County.

Before the 1980 political change in Liberia, the people of Sinoe County annually observed July 9 as the county’s Founding Day, commemorating the arrival of the early settlers at the mouth of the Sinoe River from the State of Mississippi, United States of America, on July 9, 1838. This historic observance remains a symbol of the county’s rich heritage, unity, and enduring legacy.

According to a press release issued on July 1, 2026, signed by Walterson O. Harmon, Chairman of the Communications and Media Committee for the Sinoe County July 9 and Homecoming Celebration 2026, and approved by Roosevelt Sackor, Chairman of the Steering Committee, the 2026 celebration is a collaborative initiative organized under the auspices of the county’s major stakeholders. These include the Sinoe County Legislative Caucus, the County Administration led by the Superintendent, traditional leaders, youth and women’s organizations, civil society groups, and Sinoe citizens residing both in Liberia and across the diaspora. Hundreds of sons, daughters, and friends of Sinoe County are expected to converge in Greenville to participate in the weeklong celebration, which is being held under the theme: “One County, One Future, One People.”

The 2026 celebration will place special emphasis on fostering dialogue on contemporary issues affecting the county while promoting peace, reconciliation, unity, and inclusive development. It will also serve as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds among Sinoe citizens at home and abroad and mobilize support for sustainable county development.
