Liberian Youth Foundation Graduates Over 50 Youth

By Amos Harris

The Liberian Youth Foundation (LYF) has graduated more than 50 young Liberians from a range of vocational and professional training programs, reaffirming its commitment to empowering the nation’s youth with practical skills that promote employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable national development.

The graduation ceremony was held over the weekend in Monrovia on July 4, 2026. The program brought together graduates, parents, community leaders, development partners, and invited guests to celebrate another milestone in the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to prepare young people for meaningful participation in Liberia’s growing economy.

Delivering the keynote address, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Abdurahman IA Fofana, described the graduates as a new generation of skilled, disciplined, and responsible citizens ready to contribute to Liberia’s economic transformation through innovation, hard work, and leadership.

Fofana简 emphasized that youth empowerment remains the cornerstone of the Liberian Youth Foundation’s mission, noting that investments in vocational education and practical skills training are among the most effective tools for reducing unemployment, combating poverty, and strengthening communities across the country.

“Our young people are Liberia’s greatest asset. By providing them with practical skills and opportunities, we are preparing them to become job creators, innovators, and leaders who will help build a stronger and more prosperous nation,” Fofana said.

He further announced the Foundation’s plans to expand its vocational training initiatives nationwide, with special attention to rural communities where access to quality skills development opportunities remains limited. He said the Foundation will continue strengthening partnerships with government institutions, private sector organizations, and international development partners to create greater opportunities for Liberian youth.

According to the Foundation, the graduates completed intensive training in several technical and professional disciplines designed to meet the demands of today’s competitive job market. Beyond technical instruction, participants also received training in entrepreneurship, leadership, discipline, and personal development to better prepare them for long-term success.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Liberian Youth Foundation for investing in their future. They pledged to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired to improve their livelihoods, support their families, establish businesses, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Parents, community leaders, and invited guests commended the Foundation for its unwavering commitment to youth development, describing the graduation as a significant investment in Liberia’s human capital and a positive step toward building a more skilled and productive workforce.

The Liberian Youth Foundation continues to distinguish itself as one of the country’s leading youth-focused organizations, promoting education, vocational training, mentorship, and community development initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for young people across Liberia. Observers believe such programs are playing a vital role in equipping the next generation with the skills, confidence, and leadership needed to drive sustainable economic growth and national development.
