The Bong County Health Team (BoCHT) is set to mark a significant milestone in the development of healthcare administration in Liberia when it officially breaks ground for the construction of a modern County Health Team Office in Melekie, Bong County, on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The project, valued at more than US$700,000, is expected to strengthen the county’s health system by improving administrative coordination and providing a modern working environment for healthcare professionals.
The Bong County Health Team revealed in a statement on Wednesday, July 29 that the new office complex is being fully funded by the Ministry of Health–an investment forms part of the government’s broader strategy to reinforce healthcare through improved infrastructure, stronger institutional capacity, and better management of health services at the county level.
The development comes as Liberia continues to invest in strengthening its public health sector following years of efforts to rebuild and modernize health facilities across the country. While much attention has traditionally focused on hospitals and clinics, health officials say effective administration remains equally important to ensuring that medical services reach communities efficiently and that health programmes are properly coordinated.
County Health Services Administrator (CHSA) Sam T. G. Siakor described the project as a landmark achievement for Bong County’s health sector. He said the construction of a permanent and modern administrative headquarters represents more than just a new building, emphasizing that it will serve as a foundation for improved planning, supervision, and delivery of healthcare services throughout the county.
According to Mr. Siakor, the office complex will provide health professionals with a modern and conducive working environment, enabling them to better coordinate public health programmes, monitor healthcare delivery, and respond more effectively to emerging health challenges. He added that strengthening the administrative capacity of the County Health Team will ultimately improve services provided to residents across Bong County.
“The construction of this office demonstrates the Ministry of Health’s unwavering commitment to building a stronger and more resilient health system. We are grateful to the Central Ministry of Health for this major investment in Bong County,” Mr. Siakor said in the release.
Health authorities believe that improved office facilities will enhance communication among departments, facilitate more effective planning, and support the implementation of national health policies at the county level. The facility is also expected to improve coordination between the County Health Team, local health facilities, development partners, and community-based health programmes operating throughout Bong County.
