CAPITOL HILL, Monrovia, August 13, 2026 — House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon has met with President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Jérôme Achi as the two sides seek to strengthen parliamentary relations and cooperation between Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire.
During the courtesy meeting, Speaker Koon congratulated Achi on his election to lead the Ivorian National Assembly and conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Liberian Legislature and people.
Koon described Achi’s election as an important development for Côte d’Ivoire’s parliamentary democracy and expressed confidence that the National Assembly would continue contributing to democratic governance, national development and regional cooperation under his leadership.
The Liberian Speaker emphasized the importance of deepening relations between the neighboring countries through increased parliamentary exchanges, sharing of legislative experiences and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
He said stronger parliamentary diplomacy could help advance the longstanding ties between Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire while providing opportunities for lawmakers from both countries to share experiences and strengthen legislative cooperation.
For his part, Achi welcomed Speaker Koon and the Liberian delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit.
He reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement between the two legislatures and strengthening relations between the neighboring West African countries.
The meeting comes amid efforts by Liberia to deepen bilateral and parliamentary diplomacy with regional partners and strengthen cooperation within West Africa.
