The British Embassy and the British community in Liberia are delighted to announce the 2026 cohort of Liberian Chevening Scholars as they prepare to begin their studies in the United Kingdom.
Chevening is the UK government’s prestigious scholarship programme for future world leaders. It provides fully funded scholarships to aspiring leaders, including around 400 scholars from Sub-Saharan Africa each year.
For many Chevening Scholars, the opportunity to further their career and study at the best universities in the world is an opportunity which might otherwise be unaffordable to them.
The academic skills and the connections scholars make whilst on the Chevening programme enable them to become pioneers in their specific field – from finance to healthcare to governance – and bring back these skills to benefit their home country.
Chevening boasts an alumni network of 50,000+, including an illustrious list of senior figures in politics, business, the law and other fields. No less than eighteen former and current heads of state are Chevening alumni.
A Chevening Scholarship also provides an opportunity to experience life in the United Kingdom, furthering the ties of friendship between our two countries.
Chevening has been active in Liberia since 2015. Today we are proud to announce that 5 Liberian Scholars have been awarded the Chevening Scholarship and will be traveling to the UK to complete a 1 year masters in the United Kingdom.
- William M. Yarsiah, Special and Inclusive Education at University of Nottingham.
- Hawa M. Kamara, Education Studies at Bangor University.
- Darcess Dossen, Environmental Hazards and Disaster at Cardiff University.
- Francis M. Bee, Water, Sanitation and Health Engineering at the University of Leeds.
- Molley M. Korleh, Port Management at Liverpool John Moores University.
