MONROVIA — Information Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah has clarified that Liberia’s delegation did not walk out during the Prime Minister of Israel’s address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Minister Piah clarified in response to reports circulating on social media and in local news outlets suggesting that Liberia had joined other nations in staging a walkout during the address.
Describing the reports as false and misleading, the Information Minister confirmed that Liberia’s delegation remained in the hall and observed all proceedings in accordance with the country’s long-standing diplomatic posture and commitment to multilateral engagements.
“That information is false. Our seat was occupied by the Deputy Chief of Mission. In fact, just this morning, our Foreign Minister received a message from the Israeli Ambassador confirming that Liberia did not leave the hall,” Minister Piah stated.
He emphasized that Liberia maintains friendly relations with all UN member states and continues to uphold the principles of dialogue, peace, and mutual respect as enshrined in the UN Charter.
Minister Piah urged the public and media organizations to rigorously verify information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation that misrepresents Liberia’s official foreign policy position.
