A youth workshop organized by A New Day, a Media Development & Social Justice Organization took place today, on August 17, 2025, at the Parish is House of Grace Parish Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Congo Town, Monrovia.
Originally planned for 20 participants, the workshop exceeded expectations with over 20 enthusiastic young individuals actively participating in sessions addressing Liberia’s drug crisis. The event included prayer, educational sessions, and interactive group activities that encouraged participants to reflect on their roles in combatting drug-related issues in their communities.
The day commenced with a prayer led by Parish Pastor Emmanuel, followed by welcoming remarks from Mrs. Nehemattu Wankollie providing an overview of A New Day and introducing the workshop.
Co-facilitated by Mrs. Nehemattu Wankollie and Priscilla Mah-Belloh, Founder and Lead Facilitator of A New Day, the workshop engaged participants in developing slogans for peaceful protests, crafting letters to policymakers and community leaders, as well as discussing advocacy strategies. Attendees were also prompted to create personal action plans to sustain their involvement in anti-drug efforts within their youth ministries.
Priscilla Mah-Belloh, Founder of A New Day, emphasized the significant role of young individuals in combating Liberia’s drug epidemic, highlighting the importance of their voices and actions in fostering resilient communities.
The workshop underscored the value of historical context, justice, and accountability in addressing the country’s drug crisis, paying tribute to lives lost and ongoing struggles with moments of silence.
The strong turnout and active engagement from the youth showcased their dedication to advocacy, healing, and community development. A New Day reiterated its commitment to supporting communities and ensuring accountability among leaders in the fight against drug abuse.
