Accelerate 360, one of the programs geared toward working along with local businesses for their growth and empowerment through relevant assistance, today, September 4, 2026, held an engagement activity at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The well-attended program, named and styled: Dialogue With the Minister saw several local businesses display their products, as others told stories of success.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Tarnue N. Jeke, said the government would support local businesses in an effort to help them grow.
He said one of the reasons for the expressed support is to enable MSMEs compete with their sub-regional counterparts.
Deputy Minister Jeke, speaking on behalf of Commerce & Industry Minister, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, admonished local businesses to take advantage of available opportunities and to equally strengthen their partnership with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Also speaking, the Deputy Minister for Commerce & Trade Services, Wilmot A. Reeves, stressed the importance of support to the country’s private sector.
Deputy Minister Reeves added that investment in the private sector would help boost the local economy.
He also encouraged local businesses to take advantage of other markets and programs geared toward expanding their operations.
He also spoke about the importance of the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Deputy Minister for Small Business Administration (DMSBA) at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Benedict Amos Dolo, for his part called on Liberian-owned businesses to step up their networking engagements with others.
Deputy Minister Dolo equally spoke about ongoing frantic efforts by the ministry to work along with financial institutions so that challenges affecting their growth can be tackled.
He particularly made reference to high interest rate and the limited time required to pay back as some of the constraints affecting private sector development.
According to a Ministry of Commerce & Industry release by its Director of Public Affairs, Jacob N.B. Parley, Deputy Minister Dolo however assured the participants of the Commerce Ministry’s determination to improve the future of local MSMEs.
