AFESL Inducts New Leadership – Liberia news The New Dawn Liberia, premier resource for latest news

Paynesville, May 18, 2026: The Association of Former Elected and Served Lawmakers (AFESL) on Saturday, May 16, 2026, inducted members of its Executive Committee during a ceremony held at Brothers Bar and Restaurant at Parker Paint Junction in Paynesville.

The leadership was elected by white ballot on April 14, 2026, in recognition of what the Association described as members’ exceptional leadership and dedicated service over the years.

The officials are expected to serve another six-year term and continue advancing the goals and objectives of AFESL.

Those inducted into office include Hon. Atty. S. Josen Fahn, President, Hon. G. Saygbegee Davis, Vice President, Hon. Edwin T. Juah, Secretary General, Hon. J. Kla Toomey, Treasurer, and Hon. Richmond S. Anderson, Chaplain.

Others are Hon. Morris S. Nyei, Chairman of Ways, Means, and Finance, Hon. Victory A. Lynch, Chairperson of the Welfare Committee, Hon. Marie E. McIntosh, Senior Advisor, and Hon. David E. Kortie, Media Advisor.

In his acceptance remarks, President Atty. Josen S. Fahn reflected on what he called the many years of struggle and perseverance AFESL endured to become what he described as a vibrant organization. He pledged to promote unity and prosperity among members during the new term.

Fahn said AFESL remains ready to contribute meaningfully to national development, noting that the Association comprises experienced professionals, including lawyers, engineers, and other experts who are willing to support the government in various capacities. Director General of the Civil Service Agency, Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Jr., served as keynote speaker and inducting officer.

Dr. Joekai praised AFESL for the significant contributions its members made to Liberia during their years as lawmakers and for the impact they continue to have in society. He urged the newly inducted leadership to remain committed to the ideals of service, integrity, and national development.

The ceremony drew invited guests, well-wishers, and Association members, who expressed confidence in the new leadership.
