MONROVIA – Ansu Dulleh, Chairman of the All Liberia Coalition Party (ALCOP), issued a strong warning to opposition forces during a high-stakes meeting of the ruling Unity Party Alliance at the Unity Party headquarters in Monrovia on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Addressing alliance members and political observers, Dulleh declared that ALCOP is a “master of chaos,” sending a clear warning to opposition political figures. He cautioned those seeking to destabilize the country and the Boakai-Koung administration not to underestimate ALCOP’s historical role in Liberia’s turbulent political past.
“We all know the history of the All Liberia Coalition Party (ALCOP) in Liberia, so do not come to threaten us with chaos,” Dulleh said emphatically. “We stand with President Joseph Boakai and will continue to support him. Be reminded that we are masters of chaos.”
Dulleh’s remarks appear to be a direct response to recent comments from the opposition, which have fueled rising political tensions. Former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, political leader of the opposition National Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed disappointment over the current political climate during a meeting on Thursday, April 26, 2025.
“I never expected that we would reach a point where the first citizen (President Boakai) would play politics with the Constitution,” Howard-Taylor said. “We can either agree to maintain calm or choose a path of chaos, but the decision lies with the president. He can opt to unify the country or open a Pandora’s box that leads to chaos.”
Adding to the heated rhetoric, Jefferson Koijee, Secretary General of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), posted on social media: “Mr. Boakai and Koung must move or be removed with immediacy. The constitution is above that puppet called Gregory Coleman!”
Dulleh’s comments come as the Unity Party Alliance struggles with increasing political pressure from the opposition enviroment. His reaffirmation of ALCOP’s loyalty to President Boakai, however, was coupled with a warning that hinted at possible conflict if destabilization efforts continue.
The tense political atmosphere was further heightened following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, against the House of Representatives Majority Bloc led by Montserrado County District #11 Representative Richard Nagbe Koon. The ruling stemmed from a Bill of Information filed by embattled Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa.
The situation intensified after President Boakai issued a statement accepting the Supreme Court’s decision but indicating that his government would continue working with Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, whose bloc has been conducting quorum during House sessions. The President’s position has drawn strong criticism from key opposition figures, who have described it as a blatant disrespect of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
