YEKEPA, Nimba County, August 18, 2026: ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has promoted Liberian mining engineer Momo B. Moore to Deputy General Manager for Mines, placing him in one of the company’s senior operational leadership positions.

AML said Moore’s promotion forms part of its efforts to develop local workforce capacity and increase the number of Liberians occupying senior technical and management positions within its mining operations.

Moore began his career with AML in 2018 as an entry-level contract supervisor after graduating from the University of Liberia and working with third-party contracting firms.

Over the years, he gained experience across several major mining projects, including the commissioning of the Yuelliton haulage ramp project in 2022 and site development for the new concentrator crushing plant at Tokadeh.

According to the company, Moore’s technical performance and leadership later led to his direct recruitment as Mine Superintendent before his latest elevation to Deputy General Manager for Mines.

Speaking during a ceremony marking the promotion, AML Chief Operating Officer Anthony P. Kocken praised Moore’s technical and leadership abilities and pledged the company’s support as he assumes the new position.

“You’ve got all the necessary skills to be very successful in the role. I want to give you all of the support and congratulate you as the Deputy General Manager for Mines,” Kocken said.

AML General Manager for Mines Jallah Selma described Moore’s promotion as an important signal to other Liberian employees seeking career advancement within the company.

“Today, I’m super happy and super proud that we can take this direction, and I think there is more to come,” Selma said.

“This is going to send out a very big message to a lot of Liberians who are sitting back to take another step forward, that there is an opportunity to grow with ArcelorMittal Liberia. This is a symbol for almost all Liberians in every department,” he added.

Moore, meanwhile, described his promotion as evidence that Liberian professionals can rise to senior leadership positions within the company through training, discipline and professional development.

“My elevation to this position shows that ArcelorMittal Liberia is a responsible company that seeks the betterment of Liberians to grow and develop in leadership positions. It shows that ArcelorMittal is a company that lives by its word,” Moore said.

He credited mentorship, performance standards and the company’s work environment for his professional advancement.

“When you work hard, remain disciplined, maintain high integrity, and stay open to learning, you can grow here,” he said. “Without ArcelorMittal, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Moore said his career progression reflects AML’s “Transforming Tomorrow” mantra, noting that the company has provided him with opportunities he did not expect at this stage of his career.

His promotion comes as AML continues its Phase II expansion, which includes increased mining and processing capacity and other developments associated with its operations in Yekepa and Buchanan.

The company says the expansion is also being accompanied by efforts to retain Liberian professionals, strengthen technical skills and increase local participation in senior management positions.
