Paynesville, May 6, 2026: ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has once again been recognized by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) for its outstanding contribution to national revenue generation, earning multiple honors during the 2026 Taxpayers Appreciation Awards held at Paynesville City Hall.
During the ceremony, which celebrated 46 of Liberia’s leading taxpayers, AML received accolades as the country’s highest contributor in the Natural Resource Tax Sector, the third-highest overall taxpayer, and the highest customs duty-paying concessionaire for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025.
These awards come as Liberia records its highest-ever domestic revenue performance, underlining the growing significance of tax compliance and the pivotal role of the private sector in national development. AML’s recognition reflects its unwavering commitment to responsible business practices, adherence to national tax obligations, and sustained investment in Liberia’s future.
As one of Liberia’s largest investors and concessionaires, ArcelorMittal Liberia remains dedicated to advancing national growth through sustainable mining, infrastructure development, job creation, and substantial contributions to government revenue.
The LRA awards honor taxpayers who demonstrate excellence in timely payments, consistent compliance, and meaningful revenue contributions. LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah highlighted that Liberia surpassed its domestic revenue target of US$804 million in 2025, achieving the highest revenue mobilization in the nation’s history.
This latest recognition adds to AML’s long-standing record of tax compliance and economic support. The company has consistently ranked among Liberia’s top taxpayers and has previously received LRA recognition for meeting its tax obligations and facilitating domestic revenue generation.
As Liberia’s largest mining concessionaire, AML continues to play a vital role in the nation’s economy through royalty payments, taxes, customs duties, infrastructure investments, and employment generation. The company’s mining, rail, and port operations remain key contributors to economic activity in Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa Counties.
The annual Taxpayers Appreciation Awards, launched by the LRA in 2017, aim to recognize compliant taxpayers, encourage voluntary tax compliance, and foster public participation in national development through taxation.
Held under the theme “From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion Dollar Budget,” this year’s event brought together government officials, businesses, development partners, and citizens to honor the institutions driving Liberia’s revenue growth.
For ArcelorMittal Liberia, these latest awards reinforce its position not only as a major investor in Liberia’s mining sector but also as a strategic partner in the country’s broader economic development agenda.
