Bajaj Launches New RE 236-4V Keke in Liberia, Strengthening Investment and Mobility Sector | News

Silver Automobiles Limited, the sole authorized importer and distributor of Bajaj Auto products in Liberia, has unveiled the all-new Bajaj RE 236-4V, the latest generation of the globally recognized Bajaj three-wheeler, marking another milestone in the company’s 12-year presence in the Liberian market and reinforcing growing trade ties between Liberia and India.

The launch, held in Monrovia, brought together government officials, business leaders, transport operators, and representatives of Bajaj Auto. The event highlighted the role of affordable and reliable transportation in supporting entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic growth across Liberia.

Delivering special statement, India’s Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Manoj Bihari Verma, described the launch as evidence of Bajaj’s long-term confidence in Liberia and a reflection of the expanding commercial relationship between the two countries.

“This is the third Bajaj event I have attended in Monrovia within the past year,” Ambassador Verma said, recalling the inauguration of Bajaj’s modern sales, service, and spare parts facilities in Red Light and Johnsonville. “Seeing this steady expansion of a renowned Indian brand makes me very happy. It demonstrates Bajaj’s confidence in Liberia and the growing economic and commercial partnership between India and Liberia.”

The Ambassador emphasized that Bajaj has earned a global reputation for manufacturing reliable, affordable, and innovative mobility solutions, noting that the introduction of the RE 236-4V represents another step in the company’s commitment to providing dependable transportation for Liberian consumers.

Ambassador Verma also underscored the broader economic significance of the investment, revealing that bilateral trade between India and Liberia has reached nearly US$400 million annually.

He noted that Liberian exports to India increased significantly over the past year, rising from approximately US$20 million to US$45 million, representing a 120 percent increase.

According to him, the growth reflects Liberia’s expanding economic opportunities and the benefits of India’s Duty-Free Tariff Preference Scheme, which grants Liberian exports preferential access to more than 98 percent of India’s tariff lines.

“Our partnership extends beyond trade,” he said. “Indian companies are contributing to Liberia’s economy through investments in manufacturing, mining, agriculture, healthcare, retail, and other services. They are creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurship, and improving people’s daily lives.”

The Ambassador commended the Government of Liberia for maintaining a business environment that encourages foreign investment while stressing that reliable transportation remains essential for economic development.

“Three-wheelers provide affordable transportation, create livelihoods, support small businesses, and improve connectivity within communities,” he added before congratulating the first ten owners of the newly launched vehicle and wishing them success in their businesses.

Serving as the keynote speaker at the ceremony, Vishal Lakhani, Director of Dubai Auto Gallery, disclosed that the launch coincides with the 100th anniversary of Bajaj Auto, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of motorcycles and three-wheelers.

He said Bajaj currently operates in more than 100 countries and continues to maintain market leadership in several international markets.

According to Lakhani, Liberia occupies a strategic place in the company’s African expansion plans.

“Liberia is very close to our hearts,” he said. “That is why we have chosen Liberia as the first country in West Africa to launch the Bajaj RE 236-4V. The product has not yet been introduced in Nigeria or any other West African market.”

He reaffirmed Bajaj’s commitment to continuous innovation by producing vehicles that are more efficient, environmentally friendly, and better suited to customers’ needs.

“Our promise is simple—more power, more distance, and more value,” he told customers during the launch.

Presenting the vehicle’s technical specifications, Abhai Srivastava, Country Manager of Silver Automobiles Limited, said the RE 236-4V was specifically designed to withstand Liberia’s challenging road conditions while improving profitability for commercial transport operators.

The new model features a 236cc four-valve engine, the largest in its class, delivering greater power, higher torque, improved acceleration, and enhanced fuel efficiency.

Srivastava explained that the improved performance enables drivers to transport more passengers over longer distances while reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.

Among the vehicle’s new innovations are a hand-operated reverse gear, Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) Silent Start technology, an additional centrifugal oil filter for longer engine life, and a 12-month engine warranty.

“The higher mileage means operators travel farther on less fuel, ultimately increasing their daily earnings,” he said.

Throughout his presentation, Srivastava repeatedly emphasized the product’s three core promises: More Power, More Distance, and More Earnings, describing the vehicle as a practical investment for Liberia’s commercial transport sector.

Silver Automobiles Limited said it continues to strengthen customer support through sales, genuine spare parts, and professional after-sales service.

The company currently operates service centers in Sion Town, Red Light, and Johnsonville, staffed by qualified engineers and technicians to ensure quality maintenance and repairs.

In addition to the newly launched RE 236-4V, the company distributes Bajaj motorcycles including the Boxer 100 HD, CT 125, and Boxer BM150, while its flagship Boxer BM125 HD remains one of Liberia’s leading commuter motorcycles.

The launch comes as Liberia’s commercial transport sector continues to rely heavily on three-wheelers, popularly known as “Kekes,” which have become an essential means of urban transportation and self-employment.

Industry observers note that investments in fuel-efficient and durable vehicles can help reduce operating costs for transport operators while improving mobility for thousands of commuters.

With the introduction of the Bajaj RE 236-4V, Silver Automobiles Limited aims to strengthen its position in Liberia’s growing mobility market while supporting economic activity through reliable transportation, expanded service infrastructure, and continued investment in the country’s automotive sector.
