MONROVIA – July 7, 2026 – BanffPay (Liberia) Limited has reached a major milestone after securing a Payment Service Provider (PSP) license from the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), paving the way for the rollout of secure digital payment services and what the company describes as Africa’s first unified Pay-In and Pay-Out API.
The company is already licensed for PSP operations, money remittance, and foreign exchange bureau services, authorizing it to provide digital wallets and other high-availability payment solutions as it expands its footprint across Africa.
One API, multiple payment solutions
Positioning itself as a cross-border payments and liquidity management platform, BanffPay says its new unified API will allow fintechs, merchants, NGOs, government agencies, and international organizations to integrate multiple payment services through a single connection.
This enables businesses to accept local payments, disburse funds instantly, automate collections and payouts, and receive consolidated settlements without managing multiple service providers.
“One API. Every Payment. Endless Opportunities,” the company said, describing its infrastructure as suitable for e-commerce, marketplaces, payroll systems, lending platforms, and NGO disbursement programs.
Built for Africa’s mobile-first economy
BanffPay noted that the platform is designed for Africa’s rapidly growing mobile money ecosystem, where nearly 70% of global mobile money accounts are based on the continent, while card penetration remains low in many markets.
Through a single integration, the company says businesses can access payment rails across more than 25 African countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, The Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Nigeria, Togo, South Africa, Zambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Liberia.
Liberia is the latest addition to BanffPay’s expanding regional network.
Banffy Super App for consumers
Alongside its business API, BanffPay also operates Banffy, a consumer super app that allows users to open USD, CAD, and NGN accounts, send and receive local and international transfers, access instant remittances, make payments, and use additional lifestyle and financial services from a single platform.
The company says the app is designed to support freelancers, creators, entrepreneurs, families, and businesses in participating in the global digital economy.
CEO speaks on expansion
Speaking on the launch, BanffPay Founder and CEO Muyiwa Ebitanmi said the company’s mission is to simplify payments and improve cross-border financial connectivity.
“With the launch of our unified payment solution for businesses, we are empowering consumers through the Banffy Super App while providing businesses with a single API that simplifies collections and payouts,” he said.
“Liberia now joins more than 25 African markets where businesses can securely accept payments, send payouts, and settle seamlessly through one trusted platform.”
With its Central Bank of Liberia licenses and unified infrastructure now operational, BanffPay says Liberia will serve as a growing hub within its expanding African digital payments ecosystem.
