LOFA COUNTY – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday, July 21, 2025, officially dedicated three newly completed public facilities in Lofa County, describing the projects as critical interventions that will positively affect the lives of local residents. The facilities, comprising a police station, rest stop center, and mini market, are located in Beyan Town, Salayea Administrative District, and were fully funded by the Office of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas P. Fallah.
At a ceremony attended by government officials, traditional leaders, and community members, President Boakai lauded the initiative, noting that it reflects the kind of grassroots-focused development he envisions under his administration. Serving as both Chief Guest of Honor and Dedicatory Orator, the President praised Deputy Speaker Fallah for taking the lead in addressing the needs of his constituents without waiting on national allocations.
“These developments are commendable. The police station will strengthen security, the rest-stop center provides convenience for travelers, and the mini-market gives our people an opportunity to do business,” Boakai declared. “I congratulate Hon. Fallah for this exceptional work.”
The Lofa County Rest-Stop Center traces its origins to 2021, when Hon. Fallah was welcomed to Beyan Town under heavy rainfall that left guests exposed due to the absence of shelter. That experience, he explained, motivated his commitment to construct a proper facility that would benefit both travelers and the local population.
Construction began in January 2025 and was completed within six months. The completed infrastructure includes a modern rest-stop designed to host travelers and community gatherings, a mini-market to encourage petty trade, and a new police post aimed at enhancing public safety in the region.
In a parallel development, the Lofa County Legislative Caucus donated 64 motorbikes to local authorities and frontline workers, including District Education Officers, County Education Officer, superintendents, commissioners, and other government field agents. The donation is intended to improve mobility and service delivery, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The symbolic handover of the motorbikes was witnessed by President Boakai and other dignitaries. The gesture further demonstrated a collaborative spirit among lawmakers and local leaders to empower government representatives at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the dedication, Deputy Speaker Fallah clarified that the projects were not politically motivated but rather a personal fulfillment of promises made to the people of Lofa County.
“This is our home. We must not always wait for government budget lines to act,” Fallah said. “When we can, we must give back. I am grateful to God for the strength and to the people of Lofa for their support.”
The ceremony concluded with traditional dances and blessings from elders, as community members expressed their appreciation for the completed projects, which they say will serve as symbols of progress and unity in the county.
