BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County, July 30, 2026 — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday paid a surprise birthday visit to the residence of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, joining cabinet ministers, family members, and well-wishers to celebrate the minister’s 59th birthday.
The visit came after the President concluded his official engagements marking Liberia’s 179th Independence Day celebrations in Grand Bassa County.
During the visit, Minister Piah welcomed President Boakai to his residence, gave him a brief tour of the property, and later accompanied the President to his vehicle before his departure.
Speaking following the visit, Piah described the President’s presence as a demonstration of the confidence and trust reposed in him.
He said the gesture reflected President Boakai’s appreciation for his service as the government’s chief spokesperson and reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving with loyalty, dedication, and professionalism.
The birthday celebration brought together cabinet ministers, relatives, friends, and other invited guests.
President Boakai’s visit also drew residents from nearby communities, many of whom gathered outside the residence to catch a glimpse of the Liberian leader.
