Boakai Nominates Cllr. Boakai Kanneh As Associate Justice Of Supreme Court

MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has nominated Cllr. Boakai Kanneh to serve as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

The nomination was announced in a press release issued by the Executive Mansion on Thursday, July 17, 2025, and signed by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula Bonah Nyei Fofana. Cllr. Kanneh’s nomination comes in the wake of the elevation of former Associate Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay to the position of Chief Justice.

President Boakai described the nomination as part of his broader commitment to fortifying the judiciary with individuals who embody competence, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to the rule of law. With more than two decades of legal experience, Cllr. Kanneh has held several key positions, most notably as the Head of the Law Reform Commission, where he championed legal reform and improved access to justice.
