Bong County, July 10, 2025: The colorful ceremony, held at the Regional Office Compound, brought together current and former NASSCORP employees, retirees, representatives from the Ministry of Labor, local government officials, traditional leaders, civil society actors, and members of the public to reflect on the institution’s journey since its establishment in 1975.
In his keynote address, Regional Director Mr. Bill P.L. Bowulo described the celebration as a moment of pride and gratitude. He highlighted the immense progress made by NASSCORP over the past five decades, especially in expanding social security coverage and improving service delivery to beneficiaries in the Bong Region and beyond.
“Today, we celebrate not just the number of years, but the lives we’ve touched, the workers we’ve supported, and the families whose dignity we’ve helped to preserve through pensions, injury compensation, and welfare services,” Director Bowulo stated.
He emphasized that the Corporation remains committed to fulfilling its statutory mandate of administering social security programs, including the Employment Injury Scheme and the National Pension Scheme, which provide support to insured persons in the event of old age, disability, or death.
Bowulo also praised the resilience and dedication of staff over the years, particularly during Liberia’s challenging periods of civil conflict and economic recovery.
“Our journey has not been easy, but the loyalty and hard work of our personnel have helped NASSCORP survive and thrive. We must continue to innovate, digitize, and build public trust as we look ahead to the next fifty years,” he said.
As part of the day’s events, a retiree honor segment was held to recognize and celebrate longtime NASSCORP employees who served with distinction. Several retired staff were presented with certificates of appreciation and symbolic tokens.
Speaking on behalf of the honorees, retired pension officer Madam Rachel T. Flomo expressed gratitude to the Corporation for the recognition. It pledged continued support to NASSCORP’s mission even in retirement.
The event also featured cultural performances, a parade through the principal streets of Gbarnga, and an indoor program reflecting NASSCORP’s historical milestones, achievements, and plans.
Several speakers, including Bong County Superintendent Loleya Hawa Norris, praised the impact of NASSCORP in the county and called for greater awareness of workers’ rights to social security coverage.
NASSCORP was established in 1975 by an Act of the Legislature to manage and administer social security programs in Liberia. It currently operates across all 15 counties through regional and sub-offices.
