Bong County District #3 lawmaker Representative J. Marvin Cole broke ground over the weekend for the construction of a barge in Beamah town, District #1, Bong County.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, with hundreds of residents in attendance to witness the historic occasion.
The construction of the barge is part of Rep. Cole’s development agenda for the district, which aims to improve transportation and economic activities for the people of Beamah town.
In his remarks, Rep. Cole said the construction of the barge fulfills his campaign promise to bring development and improve the living conditions of the people in the district.
“I promised during my campaign that I will work to improve the lives of my people, and this barge is just one of the many projects we have in store for the district,” Rep. Cole said.
He added that the total cost of the project is a little over Ten Thousand United States dollars.
According to him, the barge will benefit not only the people of Beamah town but also other neighboring towns and villages, as it will provide easy access to markets and other economic activities.
The lawmaker also assured the people that the construction of the barge would be transparent and that all procurement processes would be followed to ensure the project was completed on time and to high standards.
The construction of the barge is expected to take six months and will be carried out by an international construction company.
Meanwhile, the people of Beamah town expressed their gratitude to Rep. Cole for fulfilling his promise to develop their area.
“We are grateful to district #3 lawmaker for this barge, which will ease our transportation challenges and boost economic activities in our district,” said one resident.
Barge construction is just one of the many development projects that Rep. Cole has implemented since taking office in 2018. He has also constructed several schools, clinics, and roads in District #3.
