MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an active investigation into the shooting of Chief Inspector Sam W. Walker, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg during an armed attack in the New Jerusalem Community, Mount Barclay, on the evening of Saturday, April 5, 2025.
According to a police press release issued on Sunday, April 6, 2025, and signed by DCP Cecelia G. Clarke, LNP Spokesperson, the incident occurred in a terrifying ambush at the junction of New Jerusalem, situated along the Kakata highway. Walker, who is currently receiving medical treatment, was riding in a gray Pathfinder jeep owned by businessman Ben Garnett when the assailants struck.
Preliminary accounts suggest that Walker and Garnett had earlier visited Garnett’s property in the Careysburg area. As the investigation unfolds, the LNP has vowed to pursue all leads to bring those responsible for the attack on the senior officer to justice. The situation escalated when the group surrounded them near the New Jerusalem junction, opened fire, and forcibly took away Walker’s assigned firearm. Garnett, fearing for his life, fled the scene.
The LNP said police units responded promptly and escorted the vehicle to the Mount Barclay Police Station. One suspect has already been arrested and is undergoing questioning. Authorities have identified Prince Waylee as one of the main suspects in the attack and are now seeking several other individuals linked to the case. The wanted suspects include Joe Hagan, Joe Hagan Jr., Prince Weayee, commonly known as “Chekee,” Prince Lord, and Patrick Kellen.
Their photographs will be circulated to aid the public in identifying and locating them. The police are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward.
