China Donates Medical Equipment To Strengthen Maternal And Child Healthcare In Liberia

MONROVIA – The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China on Monday, September 15, 2025, officially handed over a consignment of vital medical equipment to the Ministry of Health of Liberia, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s maternal and child healthcare services.

The donation, which includes delivery beds, infant beds, and infant warmers, is set to be distributed to rural health facilities across Liberia to improve care for mothers and newborns in underserved communities. The handover ceremony was attended by H.E. Ambassador Yin Chengwu and Hon. Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto, Liberia’s Minister of Health, along with senior officials from both governments.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Yin highlighted that the donation reflects China’s enduring commitment to Liberia’s healthcare development. He said the contribution represents a tangible outcome of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and expressed optimism that collaboration between the two countries in the health sector would continue to grow, particularly in initiatives targeting vulnerable populations.

Minister Kpoto expressed gratitude for China’s longstanding support, noting that the equipment would significantly enhance maternal and neonatal care in remote areas. She described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the strong and friendly ties between Liberia and China, emphasizing that such partnerships play a critical role in improving health outcomes for the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
