Christ Embassy Dedicates School for Vulnerable Children | News

The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI), through its Inner-City Mission for Children initiative, has officially commissioned a new school for vulnerable children in the Baptist Seminary Community, Kangkang Estate, Gainesville.

The dedication of the school marked a major milestone in Liberia’s efforts to provide free, quality education to underprivileged children and was graced by former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, government dignitaries, and leaders from the Christ Embassy Church.

In her keynote address, former President Sirleaf expressed her heartfelt support for the initiative, noting that despite pressing national matters, she felt compelled to attend the ceremony.

“This school is not just an extension of a church’s mission—it represents a bold step beyond the pulpit. Pastor Chris and his team have gone further to address one of Liberia’s most critical needs: education,” she remarked. “By investing in the foundation of our children’s education, you are laying the groundwork for future professionals who will serve and uplift our nation”

She commended the Christ Embassy for its efforts and encouraged the community to take ownership of the facility, ensuring it remains a place of excellence and care.

Representing the founder of COFI, Reverend Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, Highly Esteemed Pastor Ambrose Isesele reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to global educational outreach.

“At COFI, we believe education is the ticket to change. This school—built, equipped, and sustained by love—is a living testament to our vision,” Pastor Isesele said. “It is where future leaders will rise—young minds that will transform Liberia, Africa, and the world.”

He emphasized that the school is one of 18 built across Africa and Asia and stressed that the mission continues with more schools underway.

Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Minister Gbermie Horace-Kollie, lauded the project as a critical intervention. She highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts, including the enrollment of over 1,300 street children, and pledged further collaboration with the Christ Embassy.

“This school stands as a pillar of hope in our fight against poverty,” the Minister stated. “We call on other organizations to replicate such impactful initiatives.”

Pastor Omoh Alabi, Director of the Inner-City Mission for Children, delivered a stirring reflection on the project’s spiritual and societal impact. She described the school as a manifestation of God’s love and a beacon of hope for the community.

This is not just a school—it is a symbol of God’s compassion. We pray that its presence brings light to every home and hope to every child,” she said.

A touching moment during the event came when Pastor Alabi invited former President Sirleaf to join her in dedicating the school. She also led the audience in declaring the mission’s rallying call: “Every child is your child.”

The newly commissioned school offers free education to vulnerable children and integrates both academic instruction and moral development. It was officially declared open on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

With gratitude expressed to all supporters and especially to Reverend Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, the ceremony concluded with cheers, prayers, and a renewed commitment to Liberia’s future—one child at a time.
