MONROVIA, Liberia — The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA), also known as the National Archives of Liberia, has handed over 16 Hunter motorbikes to its county coordinators to strengthen field operations and improve service delivery across the nation. The procurement was made possible through government budgetary support under the Agency’s staff enhancement initiative.
During the first phase of the handover ceremony at the CNDRA headquarters in Sinkor, Monrovia, seven county coordinators received motorbikes alongside official stationery and office supplies. Representatives from Bong, Grand Bassa, Bomi, Montserrado, Margibi, and Nimba counties were present to receive their allocations.
Speaking at the event, CNDRA Director General Hon. D. Nelson Bearngar explained that the equipment was acquired to support staff operating in rural areas. He highlighted that the motorbikes will alleviate long-standing transportation challenges, enabling county-based teams to be more proactive in their duties and boost revenue generation for the government.
The Director General estimated the total cost of the 16 motorbikes at more than US$14,000. He also announced that a second phase of the initiative will follow, introducing a dedicated bus to ease transit issues for central agency employees. Under the logistics arrangement, the CNDRA will cover fuel costs, while the respective county coordinators assume full responsibility for routine maintenance and proper upkeep. Bearngar urged the recipients to use the vehicles strictly for official business and in service of the Liberian people.
He reiterated that digitalization, decentralization, and human capacity development remain the core priorities of his administration, promising continued reforms to elevate public services.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of her colleagues, Margibi County Coordinator Madam Suah D. Johnson thanked the agency’s leadership and the central government for the support. She pledged that the coordinators would use the motorbikes diligently to deliver high-quality public services in their respective counties.
Nimba County Coordinator Aaron Weih, based in Sanniquellie, also commended Director General Bearngar and the government. Describing the distribution as a “total blessing,” Weih noted that the arrival of the motorbikes marks a transformative era for the National Archives and its rural operations.
