United States-based medical charity Children’s Surgery International (CSI) is due in Liberia on its 16th surgical mission it schedules for January 19 to 30, 2025, at the Firestone Medical Center.
The Observer has learnt that every January, since 2010, CSI doctors come to Liberia to perform much-needed surgeries on children taken to Duside Hospital by their parents from different parts of the country on a free-of-charge basis thanks to its partnership with Firestone Liberia.
Parents whose kids may be possible patients can take them to the Firestone Medical Center in Duside and Harbel Health Center up to December 15 this year, for screening and possible scheduling by doctors ahead of the procedures.
“Surgeries will be performed on children (newborn to 13 years old) with ENT (or ear, nose & throat), Urology (‘nut, toto, seed, or pee-pee’ problems) and general pediatric conditions. There will be no cost to the child or family,” an awareness notice indicates.
Doctors will also perform surgeries for hernias, imperforate anus (“no pupu hole or toilet problem”), and face problem (“cut lip, or bump on face”), it further explains.
Since 2010, Firestone and CSI continue to provide such invaluable medical care, and hundreds of children have since successfully undergone surgeries and their futures restored.
