GBARNGA, Bong County, September 25, 2026: Police in Gbarnga have charged and forwarded driver Cooper Dennis to court in connection with a July 4 road crash in Suakoko, Bong County, that killed three people and reportedly left others injured.
The victims were identified as Kpatawee Waterfall Manager Zack Mongor, Hezekiah Jorkeh and Melissa Holder.
Regional Traffic Commander Chief Inspector Jacob Aaron Vesselee said Dennis faces charges including reckless driving, exceeding the speed limit, and causing death, injuries and property damage under Sections 10.10 and 10.4 of Liberia’s Traffic Laws.
According to police, Dennis was driving a gray taxi when he allegedly attempted to overtake a yellow taxi, resulting in the crash that claimed the three lives.
Police have now forwarded the case to court for further legal proceedings.
Speaking before being sent to court, Dennis expressed regret over the incident but maintained that the crash was not intentional.
He said he received professional driving training in Monrovia and has worked in the transport sector for about four years.
The court action follows efforts by relatives of the three victims to have the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash investigated and addressed through the legal system.
Dennis remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
