Erdi Founded By Undp Donates Stationery And Food Items To Boost Acess To Justice By Sgbv Survivors In Nimba County

GANTA, NIMBA COUNTY – The Efficient Research and Development Institute (ERDI) Inc., in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has made a significant contribution to strengthen the justice system and promote security in Nimba County.

As part of the ongoing “Strengthening the Rule of Law in Liberia: Justice and Security for the Liberian People” project, ERDI on August 4, 2025, donated assorted stationery supplies to the Liberian National Police (LNP) Nimba detachment and Criminal Court E, the Sexual Offences Court in Sanniquellie. The items were presented to ACP Mendin Larmie, General Police Commander for Nimba County, at the LNP headquarters in Sanniquellie City.

The donation, which will be distributed to Women and Children Protection Units across six police stations in Ganta, Sanniquellie, Karnplay, Saclepea, Bahn, and Tappita, aims to improve the handling of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) cases. ERDI’s finance and administrator, Gary K. Dolosie, said the materials would help the police discharge their duties more effectively, ensuring timely access to justice for complainants. He emphasized that ERDI will monitor the process to ensure the supplies are used for their intended purpose.

ACP Larmie expressed gratitude to ERDI and UNDP for what he described as a timely intervention, promising that the items would be sent to officers in hard-to-reach areas where such resources are scarce. Criminal Court E representative, Mrs. Nancy Darworlor, also welcomed the donation, noting that this was not the first time ERDI had provided much-needed supplies to the court.

In addition to the stationery, ERDI donated food items to the Safe-Home operated by the Ministry of Gender in Sanniquellie, which provides shelter for SGBV survivors. The items included bags of rice, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of seasoning cubes, salt, and onions.

According to Mr. Dolosie, the donation was part of ERDI’s commitment, with UNDP funding, to support institutions safeguarding women and girls. He pledged continued collaboration with the Gender Ministry to fight SGBV and maintain a safe environment for survivors.

Receiving the food supplies, Mr. Bob Glaletee of the Nimba Gender Office thanked ERDI and UNDP for their ongoing support, saying the intervention would help alleviate hunger and strengthen the Safe-Home’s capacity to care for vulnerable victims.

The initiative is one of several key deliverables under ERDI’s implementation of the UNDP Rule of Law and Access to Justice project in Nimba County.
