Monrovia, Liberia – The European Union (EU) has distanced itself from recent claims that it provides financial assistance to the Kofi Annan Institute for Conflict Transformation (KAICT) at the University of Liberia.
The EU’s statement comes in response to a recent media report in which it is alleged that the EU has been supporting the institute financially.
However, the European Union clarified that it has not provided any funding or project support to KAICT within the past five years. In addition, the EU emphasized that it was not contacted for comment prior to the article’s publication.
“We encourage responsible journalism and urge media outlets to seek official confirmation before publishing such claims,” the EU noted in its statement.
The Union reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and open communication, urging the press to verify sensitive information, particularly on matters involving international partnerships and funding.
For further inquiries or official information regarding the European Union, the statement advised the public and media to use appropriate communication channels.
