MONROVIA – Eve Wamah, 32, has been taken into custody and transferred to Monrovia Central Prison after being formally charged with Aggravated Assault and Child Endangerment following a shocking incident in New Georgia, Gardnersville, that left a 10-year-old girl seriously injured.
According to the Liberia National Police’s Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS), Wamah allegedly used a sharp object to cut the right index finger of Georgina Favor Johnny, causing what investigators described as “serious bodily harm.” The incident occurred on September 2, 2025, and has sparked widespread concern about child safety in the community.
Investigators revealed that Georgina Favor Johnny had been placed under Wamah’s care by her father, Philip Johnny, in July 2024. During the period Wamah acted as the child’s guardian, she reportedly prevented the girl from attending school and required her to perform household chores, including washing dishes and fetching water.
On the day of the attack, Wamah allegedly asked the child to hold her nine-month-old baby. While holding the infant, the baby’s head struck a wall, causing it to cry. Wamah then reportedly struck Georgina on her right hand with a bench, slicing the child’s right index finger. The police investigation determined that Wamah knowingly and intentionally inflicted serious bodily injury on Georgina and endangered her welfare by violating her legal duty of care.
The WACPS investigation concluded that the acts committed by Wamah constitute Aggravated Assault under Chapter 14, Subchapter B, Section 14.20, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child under Chapter 16, Section 16-4 of the Liberian Penal Code. Based on these findings, the authorities charged Wamah and are preparing the case for trial in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Community Officer Georgia Rarnor Johnson arrested Wamah at her residence in New Georgia shortly after the incident. CSP Dixon N. Jlateh, WACPS Supervisor, signed off on the formal charges, emphasizing the seriousness of the crimes and the commitment of Liberian authorities to protecting children.
The case has heightened concerns among local residents and child welfare advocates, many of whom are calling for stricter oversight of guardianship arrangements and stronger measures to prevent similar incidents.
Eve Wamah remains in custody at Monrovia Central Prison as investigations continue and preparations for her trial proceed. Authorities have pledged to ensure that justice is served for Georgina Favor Johnny and to uphold the safety and protection of children across Liberia.
