Monrovia, Liberia, July 9, 2026: Former Roberts International Airport employee Anthony Deinuka has denied any link to an ongoing investigation into the seizure of an alleged US$19.2 million drug shipment at the airport.
In a recent statement, Deinuka said he has no connection to the case and has not been contacted by any law enforcement agency.
“I wish to state clearly and without hesitation that I am not the subject of any criminal investigation,” Deinuka said. “I have not been arrested, charged, invited, summoned, questioned or contacted by any law enforcement agency in connection to this matter.”
Deinuka said he previously worked at RIA but left the airport in 2019 and has held no official responsibility there since.
He said it is unfair and without factual basis to link him to the alleged drug shipment because of his former employment at the airport.
“I maintain no criminal, business, operational, financial or improper relationship with any person named as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation,” he said.
The former airport employee also responded to public discussions about photographs showing him with Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung.
Deinuka said political support or personal association should not be treated as evidence of wrongdoing.
“My support for the Vice President, or my appearance in photographs with him, cannot and must not be misrepresented as evidence of criminal conduct or improper association,” he said.
He said his support for Vice President Koung should not be misrepresented as criminal conduct or improper association.
Deinuka expressed support for the ongoing investigation and called for due process, saying anyone found culpable should face the law.
“I welcome and support the Vice President’s call for the rule of law and for the full enforcement of the laws of the land, regardless of who may be involved,” he said.
He cautioned media institutions, political actors and the public against spreading unverified claims that could damage people’s reputations.
He said he remains willing to cooperate with authorities if required and has reserved his legal rights to protect his name and reputation.
The alleged drug seizure at Roberts International Airport remains under investigation. Authorities have not announced the outcome of the probe.
