MONROVIA – A man accused of posing as a doctor and performing an unauthorized surgical procedure has been charged with manslaughter and remanded at the Paynesville City Magisterial Court.
Sam Worlobah, who falsely claimed to be a medical doctor and administrator at Lofa Medics Clinic in Neezoe, is alleged to have operated on 30-year-old Samuel P. Kollie, who had been diagnosed with appendicitis and Hepatitis B. The procedure, carried out on March 18, 2025, reportedly involved multiple injections and surgery.
Tragically, Kollie died the following day while under observation at the clinic. Investigations by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) confirmed that Worlobah was neither a licensed surgeon nor authorized to perform medical procedures. Additionally, the clinic was found to be unaccredited for surgical operations.
Following Kollie’s death, authorities launched an inquiry, leading to Worlobah’s arrest. He now faces legal proceedings that could result in severe penalties under Liberian law.
The case has sparked public outrage, with calls for stricter regulations to prevent unqualified individuals from practicing medicine. Meanwhile, the LMDC has urged citizens to verify the credentials of medical professionals before seeking treatment.
Worlobah remains in custody as he awaits trial.
