Father Seeks Lifesaving Medical Support for Ailing Daughter | News

In a heartfelt plea, Sando Kessellie Govego, father of 19-year-old Yassah Govego, is urgently appealing for medical and financial assistance to save the life of his daughter, who is battling a severe and recurring skin disease that has left her in unbearable pain and distress.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Govego explained that Yassah’s health problems began at the age of 10, starting as small bumps on her skin. Over the years, those bumps gradually spread across her body, developing into thick, painful black patches that have become increasingly aggressive and resistant to treatment.

“We’ve tried everything the doctors have advised. She has undergone surgeries, taken prescribed injections, but nothing seems to work. The disease keeps returning, stronger and more painful each time,” Mr. Govego said in an emotional interview.

He revealed that the skin disease has now spread to Yassah’s jaw, dangerously close to her esophagus and chest, making her daily life increasingly unbearable.

Once a bright young girl full of dreams, Yassah recently completed high school but is unable to pursue further education or work due to her deteriorating health condition.

“I feel the pain she goes through every day,” Mr. Govego said, visibly shaken. “We have done all we can as a family, but we are overwhelmed financially. We need urgent help to save our daughter’s life.”

According to him, doctors in Liberia have recommended advanced medical treatment abroad as the only option for a possible cure or long-term relief. He stressed that the family is not seeking cash donations directly, but welcomes anyone or any organization willing to cover the cost of Yassah’s treatment and travel abroad.

“We’re not after physical money. If someone can sponsor the entire process—medication, travel, and treatment—we’ll be grateful. That’s all we want: to save our daughter,” Mr. Govego said, holding back tears.

Also speaking was Yassah herself, whose voice was filled with emotion and exhaustion.

“I’ve been going through so much pain—physically and emotionally,” she said. “The condition is getting worse. I am begging for help. Please, help me.”

Mr. Govego used the opportunity to appeal to humanitarian organizations, charitable institutions, government officials, and kind-hearted individuals, both in Liberia and abroad, to come to his daughter’s aid.

“If urgent help does not come, this condition could lead to something very sad. But I’m praying and hopeful that good people will come forward to save her.”
