George Solo Nominated By Boakai As Liberia’s Ambassador To Italy

MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has nominated Mr. George G. Solo, former National Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), as Liberia’s Ambassador-Designate to the Republic of Italy.

In a communication to Senate President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, President Boakai urged the Liberian Senate to give the nomination expedited consideration upon its return from constituency break. The President emphasized that swift action would ensure a smooth transition and maintain momentum in the Government’s diplomatic engagements.

According to an Executive Mansion press release, once confirmed, Solo will be tasked with representing Liberia’s interests in Italy. His responsibilities will include strengthening bilateral relations, fostering economic cooperation, and advancing the country’s foreign policy objectives.

President Boakai also used the occasion to reiterate his call for all government officials to uphold the highest standards of diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in the service of the nation and its citizens.

The nomination of Solo marks another significant diplomatic appointment in the Boakai administration’s bid to reinforce Liberia’s international presence and expand its partnerships abroad.
