Gol Acquires 12 Advanced X-ray Machines To Boost National Healthcare Services

MONROVIA – The Government of Liberia has taken a major step toward strengthening the country’s healthcare system with the procurement of twelve state-of-the-art X-ray machines, aimed at improving diagnostic capacity and enhancing medical service delivery across health facilities nationwide.

Currently housed at the Central Medical Stores near Monrovia, the advanced equipment is slated for distribution to major hospitals across the country in the coming weeks. Among the new acquisitions is the 20/32KW Mobile X-ray Photography System, model YSX-mDR20B, which features a robotic arm capable of precise, flexible movement to capture high-quality imaging.

Health officials say the machines are a critical component of the government’s effort to decentralize specialized healthcare services, ensuring that timely and accurate diagnostic support reaches patients in both urban and rural settings. The YSX-mDR20B is designed to handle a wide range of medical cases efficiently, making it suitable for use in emergency wards, intensive care units, surgical theaters, and other hospital departments requiring rapid imaging.

According to the Ministry of Health, the mobility and modern features of the new X-ray systems will allow healthcare professionals to conduct emergency and routine imaging with greater accuracy and speed, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing delays in diagnosis.

“The acquisition of these machines represents a significant investment in Liberia’s healthcare infrastructure. By equipping hospitals with modern, mobile diagnostic tools, we are expanding access to quality medical care for all Liberians,” a ministry spokesperson said.

Distribution of the machines is part of a broader national strategy to upgrade healthcare facilities and ensure that specialized medical services are more evenly available across the country. Officials have pledged that once deployed, the X-ray machines will be accompanied by training programs for hospital staff to maximize their use and maintain operational efficiency.

This initiative comes amid the government’s ongoing push to strengthen Liberia’s health sector, particularly in the areas of diagnostics and emergency care, as the country seeks to improve health outcomes and reduce the burden of preventable diseases.
