MONROVIA, August 10, 2026 — The Ministries of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and Health have held a high-level review aimed at addressing delays in budget execution and accelerating implementation of health sector projects under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP).
The “Deep Dive” session, held Friday in Monrovia, brought together Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, Health Minister Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto, deputy and assistant ministers, and technical staff from the two ministries.
The meeting focused on the status of health sector projects, challenges affecting their implementation and measures needed to improve the use of allocated resources.
Technical teams from the two ministries presented updates on ongoing PSIP projects and identified bottlenecks affecting implementation. They also discussed follow-up measures aimed at resolving delays and improving project delivery.
The engagement forms part of a series of reviews initiated by the MFDP to strengthen coordination among government institutions and improve implementation of projects and programs under the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
Officials said the exercise is intended to go beyond routine reporting by identifying specific implementation challenges and agreeing on actions to ensure that budgetary allocations translate into projects and services.
The discussions also centered on accountability for public resources and the need to ensure that funds allocated to the health sector are effectively used to improve healthcare services and infrastructure.
Both ministries agreed to continue joint reviews of health sector projects as part of efforts to monitor implementation, address emerging challenges and improve budget execution.
The government’s PSIP provides financing for public investment projects across sectors, including health infrastructure and other development initiatives.
The latest review comes as the government seeks to improve implementation of development projects and ensure that appropriated funds are translated into measurable results for communities.
