Monrovia, Liberia, October 26, 2026: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs will officially launch “Liberia’s Road to the UNSC Presidency,” a series of national and diplomatic engagements leading to Liberia’s assumption of the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council in December 2026.
The event will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Capitol Hill, Monrovia, under the theme “Liberia on the United Nations Security Council: From Sustaining Peace at Home to Advancing Peace and Security Globally.”
This year’s commemoration holds particular significance as Liberia serves its 2026–2027 term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, marking an important milestone in the country’s diplomatic history and reaffirming its commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and global peace and security.
The launch of Liberia’s Road to the UNSC Presidency will set the stage for a series of activities highlighting the country’s peacebuilding experience, diplomatic priorities, and growing leadership role in regional and international affairs.
The commemoration will also provide an opportunity to recognize the importance of national unity, institutional collaboration, and collective responsibility as Liberia prepares to assume the Presidency of the Security Council.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of State look forward to marking this historic occasion as Liberia continues its journey from sustaining peace at home to advancing peace and security globally. -Press Release
