MONROVIA-Representative Jeremiah Garwo Sokan says the County of Grand Gedeh is completely challenged with roads connectivity, a situation he disclosed is too critical for district one which he represents.
Rep. Sokan said like other counties and districts, his county is equally facing difficulties in linking its district to the city.
He told OK FM Morning Rush Tuesday that the situation is confronting various districts, thus affecting supply chains, movements of goods and people and other basic necessities.
Besides road connectivity, the lawmaker also said there are other challenges facing residents, including electricity, health, education, water, and sanitation, among others.
“You know people need electricity, especially in the 21st century. People are struggling to have access to electricity, and to have stable electricity for people to meet up with the life they live in the community, “ he saidRep. Sokan further disclosed that lack of electricity is affecting livelihoods, mainly the young people.
Also affecting the people of the county and impacting economic growth, Rep. Sokan also asserted, is the lack of job creation for them, stressing “people are struggling to find an alternative to meet their daily needs.”
However, the Grand Gedeh 1st District Representative spoke of improvement in education, mostly in the rural areas where most of the young people are acquiring education.
He hailed “volunteer teachers” whom he said are contributing significantly to the educational sector of the district despite the lack of salaries.
Also, he praised appreciable momentum in the agriculture sector of the Grand Gedeh, with the citizens’ involvement in farming is by far better than it was in the past.
The lawmaker extolled the government for the improvement of roads leading from Nimba to Grand Gedeh, stressing “roads are not a major problem for now, unlike the past.”
