Former Montserrado County, District #8 Representative Moses Acarous Gray, has called on the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) to seek greater ties with partisans of the ruling Unity Party (UP) disenchanted over lots of issues, including lack of employment opportunities for them.
Though the CDC did not achieve its desire for reelection as it was defeated in the 2023 elections, Gray who is a stalwart of the most grassroot party, posited a first run victory in the 2029 elections due to what he called “current realities.”
He has however declared his readiness to sacrifice his personal political interest to ensure the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) reclaims power in the 2029 presidential and legislative elections.
Speaking over the weekend on a local talk show in Monrovia, Mr. Gray stressed that the opposition community must put aside their differences and selfish motives to unite around a single goal of democratically defeating the ruling Unity Party.
According to him, the country’s future depends on a collective effort by the opposition, emphasizing that those who have disagreed with the CDC in the past-whether due to policy or other reasons must now put on their thinking caps and contribute to the process.
“I’m prepared to sacrifice my interest for the CDC to win the elections 2029.” Gray said
Mr. Gray further urged the CDC leadership to begin conversations with key opposition figures including Senators Samuel Kogar, Edwin Snowe, Amara Konneh, and other political parties, with the aim of forming a common front ahead of the crucial 2029 polls.
He noted that only a united opposition can effectively emancipate the country and bring about the desired change.
