In a major boost to internal cohesion and strategic alignment, the World Food Programme (WFP) Liberia Country Office has concluded a high-level leadership retreat facilitated by Luther Jeke, the Chief Executive Officer of iCampus Liberia.
The retreat brought together 25-unit heads from across the country, including the Country Director and Deputy Country Director, to reinforce team collaboration, address operational challenges, and re-align the organization with its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2019–2026.
The event, held earlier this week, marks another significant milestone in Jeke’s track record of facilitating retreats for major UN agencies in Liberia, following successful engagements with UNDP, and amongst others.
“I am honored that I completed the successful facilitation of the UN World Food Programme Liberia Country Office Leadership Retreat earlier today,” said Jeke in a post-retreat statement. “It was an incredible opportunity to bring together senior leaders from across Liberia to strengthen collaboration and strategic alignment.”
According to Jeke, the objectives of the retreat where to enhance team cohesion, foster a culture of innovation, address operational challenges, improve internal communication, deepen understanding of WFP Liberia’s strategic goals, and renew leadership motivation. The retreat provided a platform for meaningful discussions and collective reflection.
The outcomes of the retreat were far-reaching. The WFP leadership emerged from the session with a clearer strategic direction under new management and stronger interpersonal connections among team members. Actionable plans were crafted to address key operational challenges, and the retreat also succeeded in improving leadership dynamics and communication among units.
“We achieved several successful outcomes,” Jeke explained. “There is now a shared vision of what success looks like for them moving forward, and an enhanced sense of individual and collective leadership capabilities.”
Participants reportedly engaged in frank and solution-oriented discussions aimed at ensuring WFP Liberia delivers effectively on its mandate to combat food insecurity and support the most vulnerable populations in the country.
The engagement of iCampus Liberia, a premier innovation and civic tech hub, to lead such a critical exercise demonstrates a growing recognition of local expertise in organizational transformation and capacity building within the international development sector.
Jeke expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of WFP Liberia for entrusting him with the role. “A heartfelt thank you to the Country Director, the Deputy Country Director, and all unit heads for their enthusiasm and commitment,” he said. “I’m excited to see how they can collectively impact food security and combat hunger in Liberia.”
