IG Coleman Orders Investigation into Kollie’s Mysterious Death

GBARNGA, Bong County, May 15, 2026 — Liberia National Police (LNP) Inspector General Gregory O. W. Coleman has ordered a fresh internal investigation into the mysterious death of Charles Kollie, following a high-level closed-door meeting with Bong County authorities led by Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris in Gbarnga.

The meeting reportedly brought together senior county officials, members of the late Kollie’s family, and representatives of the Dementa-Kokoyah Road Community amid growing public concern over the circumstances surrounding Kollie’s death and his reported release from police custody.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, the Liberia National Police has agreed to assume responsibility for Kollie’s funeral arrangements, citing what insiders described as administrative breaches related to his release.

Sources further claimed that the LNP has committed to supporting Kollie’s two biological children for the next 10 years and to providing temporary assistance to his widow and immediate family.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Coleman has reportedly instructed authorities to launch a comprehensive investigation involving at least ten police officers who were on duty during the period surrounding Kollie’s release.

Reports further indicate that the Police IG also ordered the rearrest of detainees who were allegedly held alongside Kollie before his death.

These developments follow the circulation of a leaked video on social media in which unidentified voices, believed to be officers, were allegedly heard discussing concerns that senior police officials might discover evidence while blood was being cleaned from a detention cell.

In another portion of the recording, one unidentified voice allegedly suggested plans to release detainees who were reportedly held with Kollie on April 30, 2026.

Sources allege that the detainees were released without appearing before court, despite the seriousness of the incident under investigation.

The leaked audio and video recordings have since intensified public scrutiny and raised fresh concerns about accountability, transparency, and detention practices within the Liberia National Police.

Authorities say another major meeting involving the Kollie family, residents of the Dementa-Kokoyah Road Community, and Bong County officials is expected to take place at the family residence as discussions continue.

However, this platform has not independently verified the authenticity of the leaked video or the claims provided by sources connected to the ongoing discussions.
