Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Secretary General and former Monrovia Lord Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has issued a scathing public statement against President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., accusing his administration of promoting tyranny. Koijee also asserted that former Minister of Justice and Attorney General Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh was removed from office because he allegedly refused to order the arrest of former President George M. Weah upon his return to Liberia on Tuesday, September 2, 2026.
In a statement titled “THE MASK IS OFF!,” Koijee urged Liberians to resist any attempt by the government to introduce undemocratic practices into governance. He alleged that Tweh was relieved of his post after courageously refusing direct executive orders from President Boakai to arrest Weah upon his return to Liberia.
Tweh Dismissal Allegation
“I extend my compatriot revolutionary congratulations to dismissed Justice Minister Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh for his outstanding and rare courage in refusing Mr. Boakai’s reported orders to arrest Comrade President George M. Weah and risk taking the country down a dangerous road,” Koijee stated. The CDC chief scribe also launched a passionate defense of the nation’s democratic stability, asserting that Liberians would steadfastly reject any attempt to drag the country back into political conflict or authoritarian rule.
Framing the current political environment as an attempt at political revenge, Koijee warned that opposition forces and citizens remained prepared to defend the peace. “Mr. Boakai has arrogated on himself the arrogant garment of King Pharaoh, forgetting that Liberia’s hard-earned peace and democracy are far greater than the cocaine regime and the gang of state criminals,” Koijee remarked. “The Liberian people have suffered too long. NEVER AGAIN! They will never accept a return to war in their native land. They will certainly, fearlessly defend our democracy and resist any tyranny.”
Weah Visit Announced
Addressing upcoming political engagements, Koijee announced that former President Weah was scheduled to undertake a “revolutionary visit” to former Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor in Bong County. He emphasized that no state security intimidation, obstruction or political provocation would prevent the solidarity visit from taking place.
“Our peace was purchased at too great a price. Our democracy will be defended. Tyranny and political revenge will be fearlessly resisted!” Koijee concluded.
