In a bold move to address Liberia’s long-standing challenges in public school performance and examination outcomes, KwiNuu, a U.S.- and Liberia-based non-profit, has officially launched its much-anticipated online academic platform, KwiNuu.Org, school going children.
KwiNuu means in the Kpelle vernacular, “a Culture or educated person”.
The platform, which is now accessible to grade school students nationwide, is designed specifically to support learners in 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th grades—critical academic levels often linked to national assessments like the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Speaking at a press briefing in Oldest Congo Town over the weekend, Dr. Arthur G. Tarr, Jr., Founder and Chief Executive Officer of KwiNuu, described the launch as a significant step toward transforming Liberia’s education system using accessible digital tools.
“We built KwiNuu.Org using WordPress, a free and open-source platform, so that we can continue to improve and expand it without financial barriers,” Dr. Tarr explained. “Our goal is to ensure that Liberian students, especially those preparing for national exams, have access to compelling and effective learning content.”
The platform offers a wide range of subject-based resources, tailored to Liberian curricula, with the aim of improving students’ understanding of key topics and boosting exam performance. But the initiative goes beyond just content delivery. Dr. Tarr said KwiNuu is also working to support teacher development, educational research, and community outreach.
“KwiNuu means ‘to learn, to grow, to strive to be cultured for a promising future’ in old Liberian,” he added. “That’s the spirit we bring to this platform. We want to nurture minds for a better Liberia.”
Students, parents, and educators across Liberia are encouraged to explore the new platform and use it as a free, accessible tool for academic improvement. Dr. Tarr emphasized that the platform will be continuously updated and expanded, with plans to partner with schools and educational institutions in the near future.
The organization’s mission is grounded in four core values—Collaboration, Learning, Integrity, and Punctuality—which it hopes will also shape the future of Liberian education through its digital initiatives.
“Education is the bedrock of any nation,” said Dr. Tarr. “We hope KwiNuu.Org will inspire students to believe in themselves and keep learning, because a bright future awaits them.”
Founded in Burnsville, Minnesota in 2023, KwiNuu has now expanded its operations to Liberia with the aim of creating long-term educational impact through innovation, partnership, and purpose-driven action.
