LAC Boosts Education, Operations With New School Buses, Heavy-Duty Truck

GRAND BASSA COUNTY — The Liberia Agricultural Company has commissioned two new school buses and a heavy-duty TATA truck, strengthening transportation for thousands of students while expanding logistical support across its plantation in Grand Bassa County.

LAC General Manager Naveen Madan commissioned and handed over the vehicles on behalf of the company’s board, shareholders and management ahead of the 2026-27 academic and operational year.

The investment comes as LAC operates 11 schools serving approximately 7,750 students, 45% of whom are girls. The company provides free education to employees’ dependents and has also enrolled about 348 students from 46 surrounding communities.

LAC additionally operates an adult education and literacy program as part of its educational initiatives.

The two buses are expected to improve access to education for students who travel across the sprawling plantation, reducing the amount of time they spend walking and helping them reach school safely and on time.

According to the company, expanding its transportation fleet will also allow students to return home earlier, providing additional time for studying and other academic activities.

The additional buses are expected to reduce transportation downtime and provide greater flexibility in maintaining regular services when individual vehicles require maintenance or repairs.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Madan urged drivers entrusted with the vehicles to properly maintain them and use them strictly for their intended purposes.

He also cautioned students against damaging seats and other parts of the buses, stressing that protecting the vehicles would help ensure their long-term use for the benefit of students.

Madan described the procurement as part of LAC’s continuing investment in education and plantation operations and indicated that additional initiatives are expected as the company works to improve services.

Beyond education, the newly commissioned heavy-duty TATA truck will strengthen LAC’s operational capacity by supporting rubber collection and other logistical activities across the plantation.

The investment underscores the company’s broader effort to combine its agricultural operations with educational and community services for employees, their dependents and residents of surrounding communities.
