Lady Justice Center Demands Justice After 37-year-old Victim Of Fake Clinic

MONROVIA – The Executive Director of the non-profit organization Lady Justice Center of Liberia, Ms. Hawa Metzger, is calling on the Government of Liberia to take decisive legal action against operators of substandard hospitals and clinics across the country. She emphasized that simply shutting down these fake health facilities is not enough, especially when they continue to endanger the lives of citizens.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Monrovia, Ms. Metzger stated that the government should not stop at closure but must hold those responsible accountable to prevent further public health risks.

Ms. Metzger disclosed that her organization has received several complaints from victims of alleged medical malpractice, including 37-year-old Assata Kromah, a mother of four. According to Metzger, Kromah has suffered serious health complications after undergoing a surgical procedure at Triple MS Medical and Surgical Clinic, located in Kabbah Community, Barnesville, Montserrado County, in October 2024.

She noted that since the surgery, Kromah has continued to experience severe pain and is in urgent need of financial support to undergo corrective surgery at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Sinkor.

“What kind of surgical doctor destroys the lives of citizens instead of saving them, when he knows fully well that he is not qualified?” Ms. Metzger asked, expressing frustration over the harm being caused by unlicensed or incompetent practitioners.

According to her, Kromah officially filed a complaint against Triple MS Medical and Surgical Clinic, citing an incident of medical negligence. Recounting her experience, Kromah stated that she sought treatment on October 25, 2024, after experiencing severe abdominal pain and heavy bleeding. She claimed to have consulted Dr. Musa Kamara, who diagnosed her with growths and/or appendicitis and recommended immediate surgery.

She was charged US$300 for the operation, which she promptly paid. However, she continued to suffer the same symptoms after the surgery. When she returned to the clinic the following day seeking further medical attention, she was told to come back later. Since then, she has reportedly received no additional treatment.

According to Metzger, Kromah returned again, but Dr. Kamara dismissed her concerns, stating that the “work is done,” and declined to conduct any further checkup or treatment.

When contacted for comment regarding the allegations, Dr. Musa Kamara neither confirmed nor denied the claims. “I can’t speak on this matter because the case is with the Liberia Medical Council. Secondly, I’m currently at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center performing surgery, so I can’t say more,” he said.
