Ldea Arrests Suspected Drug Traffickers In Four Counties

MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has intensified its nationwide crackdown on illegal drug trafficking with a series of arrests made across four counties between May 27 and 28. The coordinated operations resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics and the arrest of several individuals now facing investigation or prosecution.

In Lofa County, authorities arrested 42-year-old Musa Kamara in Voinjama. Kamara was found with 119 wraps and five plates of compressed marijuana concealed in his vehicle. The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at LRD 857,400. Kamara is currently under investigation.

On May 27 in Nimba County, 50-year-old Musu Yeanay was apprehended at the Sanniquellie Checkpoint. She was allegedly transporting nine tubes of cocaine valued at USD $5,346 or approximately LRD 1,015,740. Yeanay is being investigated and is expected to face formal charges.

Meanwhile, in Grand Gedeh County, 22-year-old Mercy Toe was arrested in Toe Town on May 28 with two plates of compressed marijuana. The drugs are valued at an estimated USD $200 or LRD 38,000. Toe has since been charged and forwarded to court for prosecution.

In Bomi County, 40-year-old Jumah Quake was arrested on May 27 in Colman Hill. She was allegedly found with 158 wraps of marijuana valued at USD $39.50 or LRD 7,505. Quake is currently in custody pending trial.

The LDEA stated that these arrests reflect its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating across the country. The agency emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation with local communities to combat the growing threat of narcotics.
